Francks Kylindustri, a leading Nordic provider of industrial and commercial refrigeration solutions, has acquired Nijssen B.V. and Ventri Techniek B.V., two Dutch specialists in refrigeration, climate technology, and agricultural storage solutions.
The acquisitions mark Francks Kylindustri’s entry into the Dutch market and represent a strategic step in the Group’s expansion beyond the Nordics into key European markets. The Netherlands represents one of Europe’s most advanced markets in horticulture, food production, life sciences, and sustainable climate technologies, making it a natural next step in Francks Kylindustri’s international growth strategy.
Founded in 1948 and headquartered in Leiden, Nijssen is a long-established Dutch family business and knowledge-driven specialist in industrial refrigeration and precision climate-control technology. The company develops and delivers highly customized cooling, freezing, and climate solutions for applications where environmental conditions are critical to operational performance and product quality.
Nijssen has built a leading position in highly specialized climate-controlled environments for research facilities, life sciences, controlled environment agriculture (CEA), seed storage, food innovation, and industrial applications. The company combines expertise in engineering, automation, installation, service, and maintenance with a strong focus on energy-efficient technologies and natural refrigerants.
Ventri Techniek, based in Dronten, is a leading specialist in storage technology for agricultural products, with strong expertise in ventilation, cooling, and climate solutions for growers and food-related customers. Ventri adds complementary capabilities, customer relationships, and sector expertise, particularly within agricultural storage and product preservation.
Together, Nijssen and Ventri create a strong Dutch platform for Francks Kylindustri. The companies cover a broad range of critical climate and storage applications, from highly controlled research and production environments to large-scale agricultural storage and preservation solutions. The combination strengthens Francks Kylindustri’s ability to support customers in sectors where reliable, efficient, and sustainable climate solutions are business critical.
“The acquisitions of Nijssen and Ventri Techniek mark an important milestone in our international expansion. Together, these businesses establish Francks Kylindustri in the Dutch market and provide a platform for future growth.
Nijssen’s deep expertise in precision climate control, life sciences, and controlled environment applications, combined with Ventri’s strong position in agricultural storage and preservation solutions, significantly broadens our offering and strengthens our position in attractive end-markets.
“We are very impressed by the technical competence, customer focus, and entrepreneurial culture in both companies. We look forward to welcoming their teams into Francks and to accelerating growth together in the Netherlands and beyond,” says Sören Jensen, CEO of Francks Kylindustri.
“Joining Francks marks an exciting new chapter for Nijssen. For decades, we have built our company on technical excellence, innovation, and close partnerships with our customers.
Our customers rely on us for mission-critical climate and refrigeration solutions where performance, reliability, and continuity are essential. Becoming part of Francks strengthens our ability to support them with additional expertise, resources, and international capabilities, while preserving the entrepreneurial culture, technical knowledge, and customer focus that define Nijssen.
We are confident that this long-term partnership will create significant value for our customers and open up new opportunities for our employees,” says Frank van der Heijden, Managing Director of Nijssen.
“Ventri has a clear specialist position within storage technology for agricultural products. We see strong opportunities to continue developing our offering together with Nijssen and Francks Kylindustri, while maintaining the entrepreneurial approach and customer proximity that have made Ventri successful,” say Peter Maljaars, Arie van Dijk, and Jeroen van Kats, owners of Ventri Techniek.
Francks Kylindustri will continue to build on the strong local positions of Nijssen and Ventri. Both companies will retain their brands, local customer focus, and entrepreneurial culture, while benefiting from collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the broader capabilities of Francks Kylindustri. The focus will be on customer and employee continuity, technical development, and long-term growth in the Dutch market.
