Ortivus was, as previous announced, selected last year by the South West Ambulance Service Trust (SWAST) as the preferred bidder to deliver electronic patient care record (“ePCR”) system. It is a full-service agreement that includes delivery of ePCR software, hardware and 24/7 support. The total value of the order is £8.25M. Installation is expected to start during 2020 and the agreement is valid over a five-year period with an option to extend by up to two years. The optional extension has a value of £1.7M.
After the selection the details in functionality and implementation has been finalized and the contract is now signed.

The delivery of new hardware to 600 ambulances will start during spring 2020 and be completed in the middle of 2021. The MobiMed Journal software will continue to be upgraded with new functionality on a regular basis with many releases. For example, it will be integrated with even more of the administrative software used in the area. This will facilitate the seamless transfer of data and further strengthen the prehospital care by saving time for staff and increase patient safety.
SWAST
South Western Ambulance Service Trust has responsibility for the provision of ambulance services across an area of 10,000 square miles which is 20% of mainland England. The Trust covers the counties of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and the former Avon area (Bristol, Bath, North and North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire).
The Trust serves a total population of over 5.5 million and is estimated to receive an influx of over 23 million visitors each year. The operational area is predominantly rural but also includes large urban centres including Bristol, Plymouth, Exeter, Bath, Swindon, Gloucester, Bournemouth and Poole.
They employ over 4,000 mainly clinical and operational staff (including Paramedics, Emergency Care Practitioners, Advanced Technicians, Ambulance Care Assistants and Nurse Practitioners) plus GPs and around 2,785 volunteers (including community first responders, BASICS doctors, fire co-responders and volunteer PTS drivers).
ORTIVUS
Ortivus is a Swedish MedTech company that has provided digital solutions for prehospital and primary care since 1985. Ortivus’ software MobiMed is used by more than 10,000 ambulance caregivers in over 2000 emergency vehicles, mainly in the UK and Sweden.
MobiMed is built in modules where MobiMed Monitoring (Vital Sign Monitoring) offers real-time monitoring of patients' vital values. MobiMed Journal is an electronic patient record (ePR) with decision support system and triage.
MobiMed is integrated with several different monitoring devices and administrative systems, which allows patient data to be transmitted seamlessly. This makes it easier for healthcare professionals to provide the right treatment, saves time when handing over a patient from emergency vehicle to hospital and accumulate big data that analysts can use to update clinical guidelines.
The MobiMed platform is based on clinical knowledge in cardiology. It is continuously developed in close collaboration with users.
