Inside information: HONKARAKENNE OYJ AND ONWOOD OY LAUNCH A STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
Honkarakenne Oyj and OnWood Oy have entered into a strategic cooperation agreement for the production of fully finished log buildings. The objective of the partnership is to accelerate industrial wood construction, enhance the efficiency of public and commercial construction, and expand into international markets.
The first transaction under the strategic cooperation agreement has just been signed and involves the delivery of more than one hundred fully finished log buildings to Western Europe during autumn 2026 and early 2027. The transaction is included in Honkarakenne’s revenue and operating profit guidance for 2026.
Honkarakenne and OnWood address the growing demand for log buildings by jointly bringing fully finished log buildings to the market. Honkarakenne designs and supplies the wooden building components, while OnWood manufactures the buildings at its own production facilities to approximately 90% completion indoors, leaving only the final assembly and finishing work to be completed on site
Construction in a controlled factory environment ensures high quality, and the finished buildings are delivered cost‑efficiently in a single shipment to the final destination. These ready-made solutions also significantly shorten on-site construction time and reduce related costs. In addition, noise and environmental disturbance can be minimized.
As their first joint project, Honkarakenne and OnWood will deliver over one hundred fully finished buildings to Western Europe. Honkarakenne acts as the designer of the buildings and the creator of the interior concept, while OnWood produces the buildings using Honka log components and delivers them fully completed.
Honkarakenne and OnWood are advancing several projects involving fully finished log buildings in Finland and in export markets. Ongoing projects demonstrate the capabilities of two pioneers in wood construction working together.
Complementary expertise enables more demanding projects
According to Markus Saarelainen, Head of B2B Sales at Honkarakenne, the partnership enables a broader and more complete offering for public and area development projects both in Finland and internationally.

The cooperation creates significant opportunities, particularly for international growth. According to Miikka Vainio, CEO of OnWood, Honka’s strong brand supports OnWood’s international expansion.
