Development in foreign ownership on the Swedish stock exchange Q2 2026

2026-07-17 11:00:00

Each quarter Modular Finance publishes an overview of the development of foreign ownership on the Swedish stock exchange. Data is displayed per list and sector, with a comparison against the corresponding quarter last year.

“Foreign ownership on the Swedish exchange continued to show clear structural trends in Q2 2026. Foreign ownership on Main Market Sweden was relatively stable year-over-year. We continue to see a clear trend of foreign ownership being highest on the lists with companies of bigger market capitalization. However, we saw continued divergence on the sector side.

The Discretionaries sector reached a new record high of 33.7%, surpassing the previous peak of 33.6% set in Q4 2025, while Trading & Goods as well as Health care also continued their steady climb of increasing foreign ownership. In contrast, the Materials sector extended its decline for the fourth straight quarter, falling to 17.7%.” says Viktor Forslund, Data Specialist at Modular Finance.
