Norse Atlantic Airways AS: Norse adds second direct World Cup flight from Oslo to Miami

2026-07-07 20:22:51

Demand for Norse Atlantic's first direct flight from Oslo to Miami following Norway's historic FIFA World Cup quarter-final qualification was so strong that the flight sold out almost immediately. Norse has now secured capacity for a second direct Dreamliner service, giving even more Norwegian supporters the opportunity to cheer on the national team against England.

"The response has been truly overwhelming. We've received an extraordinary number of enquiries from supporters wanting to be there as Norway writes football history. We're therefore delighted that we've been able to secure capacity for a second flight," says Eivind Roald, CEO of Norse Atlantic.

The first Miami service was announced on Monday morning after Norway's memorable victory over Brazil. Work immediately began to source an additional aircraft, crew and airport slots, enabling Norse to add a second direct service departing Oslo on Friday evening and returning from Miami on Sunday evening.

Within just a few days, Norse has now added two extra Dreamliner flights to the US in response to the exceptional demand created by Norway's remarkable World Cup campaign.

The additional service reflects Norse Atlantic's ability to respond rapidly to extraordinary demand by deploying long-haul capacity where it is needed most.

"With two Dreamliners, Norse will carry 676 Norwegian supporters to Miami, which represents over one percent of the stadium's total capacity. We hope the supporters will be both seen and heard when Norway plays the biggest match in its football history," says Roald.

More than a flight

The first special Norse World Cup service to New York became far more than just a flight. With Norwegians celebrating onboard, singing, and the now-famous rowing tradition, the journey itself became part of the World Cup experience.

"It has been fantastic to see complete strangers become a team before we've even left the gate. We don't just want to fly supporters to the match - we want the experience to begin the moment they arrive at Oslo Airport," says Roald.

Norway has reached its first-ever FIFA World Cup quarter-final, triggering unprecedented interest among supporters across the country.

"It almost feels as though the whole of Norway has joined the national team on tour. The supporters have truly been the team's twelfth player throughout this tournament, and we're proud to help even more of them experience this historic journey together," says Roald.

Tickets will be available at flynorse.com from 7 July in the evening, subject to final operational preparations.
