NYKD: Nykode Therapeutics Receives New U.S. Patent Strengthening Intellectual Property Protection for its fully individualized VB10.NEO cancer vaccine program
2026-08-20 15:22:47
o USPTO issues U.S. Patent No. 12,697,377 B2, covering Nykode's individualized
neoantigen therapy VB10.NEO and related modular neoantigen-based DNA vaccine
designs
o Patent provides protection through January 5, 2037, complementing a U.S.
patent granted in 2024 covering VB10.NEO
o Recent positive Phase 3 data from Merck and Moderna's individualized
neoantigen therapy program underscores a growing momentum for the INT field
o Nykode's VB10.NEO program provides an attractive alternative to mRNA based
vaccines enabling expansion to broad set of indications with a reliable and
economically supply chain.
Oslo, Norway, August 20, 2026 - Nykode Therapeutics ASA (OSE: NYKD), a clinical
stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of
novel immunotherapies, today announced that the United States Patent and
Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued U.S. Patent No. 12,697,377 B2, entitled
"Therapeutic anticancer neoepitope vaccine" related to its individualized
neoantigen therapy pipeline candidate, VB10.NEO.
The newly issued patent relates to Nykode's fully individualized neoantigen
based cancer vaccine, VB10.NEO but also to similar modular neoantigen based
cancer vaccines comprising alternative targeting units and/or dimerization
units. The 20 year expiration date of this patent is January 5, 2037.
Michael Engsig, CEO of Nykode, said: "This new patent broadens the intellectual
property protecting VB10.NEO and our wider neoantigen platform, and it arrives
at a pivotal moment for the field. Merck and Moderna's positive Phase 3
INTerpath-001 data is an important clinical validation of individualized
neoantigen cancer vaccines. The question now moves from whether the modality
works to which asset can be delivered reliably, and economically, across many
indications. With a differentiated APC-targeted design, a neoantigen selection
algorithm validated in patients, and an established attractive manufacturing
supply chain, we believe VB10.NEO is well positioned to move into a larger set
of indications."
Nykode presented data on the VB10.NEO program at the Neoantigen Summit in
Amsterdam on July 22, 2026. Further details are available in the Company's press
releases: http://nykode.com/media/news-and-announcements/
Nykode is actively exploring partnerships to advance VB10.NEO across a broad
range of tumor types.
About Nykode Therapeutics
Nykode Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to
the discovery and development of novel immunotherapies with a focus on the
treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. Nykode's modular immunotherapy
technology specifically targets antigens to antigen presenting cells (APC),
which have been shown to induce a broad, strong and long-lasting antigen
specific immune response in cancer, which correlates with clinical responses.
Nykode's lead product candidates are abi-suva, a therapeutic immunotherapy for
the treatment of HPV16 induced malignancies which demonstrated favorable safety
and efficacy results from its Phase 2 trial for the treatment of late-line r/m
cervical cancer. Abi-suva is currently being further developed in first line
head and neck cancer with the randomized Abili-T trial with interim results
within 2027. VB10.NEO, an individualized cancer neoantigen immunotherapy, has
been investigated in two trials with more than 10 different indications.
Nykode is also utilizing its APC-targeted technology to create an immune
tolerance platform for the potential use in autoimmune disorders, organ
transplant rejections, anti-drug antibody reactions and allergy.
Nykode Therapeutics' shares are traded on the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSE: NYKD).
