IAEA and RaySearch partner to expand radiotherapy access to radiotherapy through the Rays of Hope initiative
RaySearch Laboratories AB (publ) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are proud to announce the signing of an agreement at the 70th IAEA General Conference, bringing RaySearch into the Rays of Hope initiative.
The multi-year partnership aims to strengthen cooperation and expand access to safe, effective and sustainable radiotherapy services, particularly in countries and regions where access to radiotherapy remains limited.
The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration in areas including awareness-raising and research in radiotherapy treatment planning and quality assurance. It also includes the potential provision of software solutions to support selected cancer centers participating in Rays of Hope, including Anchor Centers that serve as regional knowledge and capacity-building hubs.
“Partnerships with industry are helping the IAEA expand access to cancer diagnosis and treatment around the world. Working together, we can bring life-saving cancer services to more people, no matter where they live," says IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi.
While investments in radiotherapy equipment are critical, advanced software plays an equally important role in ensuring that treatments are delivered safely, accurately and efficiently. Treatment planning systems and oncology information systems enable radiation oncologists and medical physicists to design personalized treatment plans, streamline clinical workflows and support quality assurance, helping healthcare providers make the most of available resources.
Through the collaboration, RaySearch may explore opportunities to support facilities identified by the IAEA with software, application-specific training, and technical expertise. With its vendor-agnostic approach and broad range of cancer care solutions, RaySearch can help strengthen radiotherapy capacity and support high-quality cancer care.
