FOM Technologies Enters Into Agreement on Perovskite Research
FOM Technologies has today announced that the company has entered into a joint development agreement on research into the material “perovskite”.
Perovskite is a group of materials with a distinctive crystal structure that can absorb light and conduct electricity, making them of interest for, among other things, the solar cells of the future. Unlike traditional silicon, perovskite can be dissolved in a liquid and coated in ultra-thin layers onto various surfaces, which makes production cheaper. Today the term covers both the original mineral and an entire class of man-made materials with the same crystal structure.
FOM Technologies is among the leading companies globally within slot-die coating of perovskite. As part of the new agreement, FOM Technologies will integrate its slot-die coating technology with the partner’s competencies and field of application, with a view to commercialising materials research within perovskite.
The agreement provides no guarantee of the development of commercial products between the parties, and there is likewise no guarantee of commercial revenue for FOM Technologies as a result of the agreement. For competitive reasons, FOM Technologies does not disclose information about the partner.
