Knowit wins new contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration
Knowit is one of five suppliers awarded a contract under the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration’s (FMV) procurement, “Situational Picture for Surface Surveillance.” Knowit will develop a solution that brings together information from different sensors and highlights what matters most, enabling Swedish Armed Forces personnel to establish a clear picture of the situation and act more quickly.
The ability to compile and prioritise information from multiple sensor sources is essential to creating a useful situational picture. Knowit’s solution will receive, structure and verify the quality of sensor information, and make relevant events available in the command-and-control environment where personnel work. The aim is to help operators identify and act on important events without having to monitor raw data from individual sensors continuously.
“This assignment gives us the opportunity to combine our expertise in sensor technology and command-and-control systems to meet specific operational needs. Working with FMV and the Swedish Armed Forces allows us to test and further develop our solutions with direct feedback from users. Developing the solution alongside its users is the best way to create technology that truly makes a difference,” says Andreas Nilsson, Business Lead for Knowit’s defence solutions.
The work is being carried out within the Lund Rapid Innovation & eXploitation (LRIX) innovation initiative. Military users will test the solution, which will then be developed in stages based on the results and the needs of the Swedish Armed Forces. The assignment is an important part of Knowit’s investment in defence and security and builds on a longstanding collaboration with FMV.
