The pan-European Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) aims to contribute to the development of renewable hydrogen in the EU which can compete with the use of fossil fuels in industry and transport and help reduce carbon emissions.

The nominated projects will go through a European matchmaking process to clarify how they fit into a common value chain and whether they can be included in the establishment of an IPCEI across the member states. The Danish Government has allocated DKK 850 million for the Danish participation. The final participation in the pan-European hydrogen project, and thus their decision on state aid, will depend on the matchmaking process and the European Commission's final approval.
