In a new report, based on a commissioned research project, the Institute of Clinical Research at the University of Southern Denmark confirms that puriZAP, the handheld disinfection unit manufactured by LED iBond International A/S (LED iBond), effectively inactivates coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) of up to 99.97 %. With this anti-virus effectiveness, the puriZAP unit is a powerful tool for disinfection of objects and surfaces.
Karin Horn, CEO of LED VirusKill A/S, a spin-off company from LED iBond driving the commercial development of puriZAP, says:
- I am very pleased that we now have independent confirmation of the effectiveness of puriZAP and on top of that we have just established - together with our partner Tec-SolutionZ - an agreement to do a pilot project to improve disinfection effectiveness at the nursing homes in a middle-sized Danish municipality.
Lars Frederiksen, CTO of LED iBond, says:
- The test results from the University of Southern Denmark mark a breakthrough, not only for the mercury-free puriZAP device, but for our disinfection technology in general. We have obtained specific documentation for the effectiveness of our disinfection panels using ultraviolet LEDs, even when fitted into an affordable hand tool. It is the same technology that we are using for other UV-C disinfection systems, so I think it is safe to assume that our technology will also provide effective virus protection in those applications. No doubt, leading edge technology will become an important anti-virus measure alongside vaccinations, not least in the fight against virus mutations.
