Oslo's new main public library has now opened - with LED iBond prominently displayed with innovative lighting technology for smart shelves.
As mentioned in our prospectus LED iBond has delivered more than 3,600 customized "smart" shelves with advanced LED optics and IoT functionality for the new Deichman library in Oslo. LED iBond won a tender to supply the shelves, featuring among other things LEDs with different radiation angles, so the light can be directed to books, objects, and magazines. The settings are controlled by NFC (Near Field Communication) technology via mobile devices such as tablets and mobile phones.
The new Deichman library in Bjørvika, Oslo, is expected to welcome over two million visitors each year. The opening was originally scheduled for March 28, 2020 but was postponed due to the global health crisis. Following a brief opening ceremony on June 18th to mark the official opening, the public now has access to the library containing the bespoke, intelligent lighting solution provided by LED iBond.
Henrik Fabricius, Sales Director at LED iBond, comments on the opening and installation: "We have spent many development hours on this project and are actually quite proud of the outcome for one of the most technologically advanced multimedia libraries in Europe. I believe this solution can be used in many international shelf applications apart from libraries such as in retail, offices etc."
LED iBond focuses on large projects through tailor-made applications in the market for intelligent buildings, where the unique LED iBond product features offer great competitive advantages. The company expects increasing sales of intelligent shelves in collaboration with international partners.
