GolfStar acquires Stannum Golf outside Gothenburg. "This is the first golf facility in our planned expansion in Western Sweden," says founder Tony Trigell.

GolfStar expands to Gothenburg. Yesterday the members of Stannum Golf voted to join GolfStar. "I am proud and very happy. This is the first step in our plans to develop outside of Stockholm," says Tony Trigell, founder of GolfStar.

"This gives the club's members the best way to enjoy their golf course and get the most out of their golf experience and annual fee," says chairman of Stannum Golfklubb Ilona Miglavs.
Stannum Golf - formerly Stora Lundby - outside Lerum just north of Gothenburg is one of many golf clubs in Sweden that has been struggling with negative membership growth and tougher finances for a long time. In order for the club to survive at all, substantial fee increases were required in the future.

GolfStar is the Nordic region's leading player in the operation of golf facilities. Around Stockholm, GolfStar already operates 19 golf courses. Through the acquisition, GolfStar is now taking a big step in its long-term vision.
"We have a system that works and is good for the golfer. Why should we only have it in Stockholm? Imagine a future where you, as a GolfStar golfer, have the opportunity to play at facilities not only in Stockholm and now Gothenburg, but in many other places in Sweden," says Tony Trigell.

"We have made an extensive analysis of golf facilities in Sweden and are now in talks with selected ones. There are more facilities in Gothenburg that we are interested in finding solutions with, but there are also other regions that we are looking at and talking about," says Nicklas Raask, incoming Group CEO of GolfStar's parent company Caddies Europe.
Stannum Golf, with its attractive location in the Gothenburg region and scenic surroundings, has historically been a popular facility in the region.

“The acquisition of Stannum Golf is a great addition to our business,” said Tony Trigell, founder of GolfStar. "We look forward to improving and developing the facility and bringing it back to the level it once was."
