First Land-Based Genset Power Application for Climeon’s HeatPower
Climeon has completed the commissioning of four HeatPower 150 units at Landmark Power Holdings’ Rhodesia power plant in the UK. This marks the first land-based genset power application of Climeon’s HeatPower technology, showcasing its potential to enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions in engine-based power generation.
Innovative Energy Solutions at the Rhodesia Plant
The Rhodesia plant, owned by VH Global Energy Infrastructure plc (“ENRG”), and developed under Landmark Power Holding’s FLEXPOWER PLUS® concept, integrates high-efficiency reciprocating engines with waste heat recovery and carbon capture technology to provide flexible, low-carbon energy. Climeon’s HeatPower units capture low-temperature waste heat from the engines via an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC), converting it into electricity and improving overall plant efficiency.
Climeon’s Commitment to Energy Efficiency
“This commissioning demonstrates the capabilities of our HeatPower technology in advancing the energy efficiency of land-based power plants,” said Lena Sundquist, CEO of Climeon. “We are proud to contribute to a more efficient and lower-emission energy system.”
Landmark’s Vision for Clean, Flexible Power Generation
Landmark Power Holdings develops, builds, and operates flexible power plants designed to support the UK’s energy system by addressing the challenges of balancing intermittent renewable energy sources. Landmark’s FLEXPOWER PLUS® concept offers a practical solution by ensuring reliable, efficient power generation while reducing emissions. Climeon’s waste heat recovery technology plays a vital role in this concept by enabling the Rhodesia plant to generate additional electricity without increasing fuel consumption, significantly improving both economic and environmental performance.
“Our partnership with Climeon is instrumental in enhancing the efficiency of our power plants as we take steps toward a cleaner energy landscape,” said Mick Avison, Founder and CEO of Landmark Power Holdings.
Strategic Partnership for a Cleaner Energy Future
Victory Hill Capital Partners LLP, the investment manager to VH Global Energy Infrastructure plc, is an asset manager targeting direct private equity and infrastructure equity investments in sustainable energy globally. ENRG owns 36 assets across multiple technologies across seven countries around the world.
A Model for Future Energy Projects
The Rhodesia power plant serves as a model for future energy projects, highlighting how flexible power plants can integrate advanced efficiency and emissions reduction technologies to support the transition to a lower-carbon energy future.
