Climeon Highlights the Value of Marine ORC Waste Heat Recovery
Climeon has built extensive experience in commissioning and optimizing ORC systems onboard vessels. In a new white paper, Climeon shares this experience, along with insights into the factors that determine how much energy can be recovered and the value that waste heat recovery can deliver in real-world operation.
The paper brings together Climeon’s most important learnings from marine ORC applications and describes how waste heat recovery can contribute to improved vessel energy efficiency, reduced fuel consumption and emissions.
The paper looks beyond performance at a single design point to examine how much energy can be recovered across a vessel’s actual operating profile. In particular, it highlights the importance of recovering waste heat from marine engines even at lower temperatures. Doing so enables power production across a wider range of operating conditions and can increase total energy recovery over time.
It also explores the practical aspects of integrating ORC-based waste heat recovery into both newbuild and retrofit applications, alongside the economic and regulatory factors making improved energy efficiency increasingly important for the maritime industry.
