On March 30, 2022, Copperstone Resources AB (publ) submitted an application for an environmental permit to the Land and Environmental Court at Umeå District Court to enable the reopening of the Viscaria mine in Kiruna. Thereafter, Copperstone has received supplemental requests from a number of referral bodies, to which the company responded on October 7. The company has communicated an ambition to have received a confirmation from the Land and Environment Court that the application is complete, a so-called proclamation, before the end of 2022. Copperstone can now conclude that this will not happen. There are no new obstacles in the application process other than that the administrative authority reportedly has a high workload.
"We continue to have a positive view of the application process and the possibility of receiving the proclamation as soon as possible in 2023. We aim for our application to be of high enough quality that delays in the permit process will not affect our overall schedule, which is to be able to deliver our first copper concentrate at the end of 2025”, says CEO Henrik Ager.
