Luleå 2026-05-08 — Effnet, a leading provider of 5G RAN software and 5G protocol stack for terminals as well as Header Compression software, today announced that it has signed a strategic agreement with a major satellite operator to evaluate and deploy its 5G NTN solution, marking an important milestone in the commercialization of the company’s 5G solutions.
The customer will deploy Effnet 5G NTN technology on its satellite payload within its operational environment for evaluation. The program will be executed in collaboration with the established technology partners supplying complementary components as part of the overall solution.
The evaluation phase represents a material commercial engagement, and it could have significant financial impact in the current financial year. Following successful evaluation, the parties anticipate progressing toward a subsequent commercial phase. The potential commercial deployment could represent a substantial multi-year opportunity for the company and the largest deployment of its technology to date.
“This agreement represents an important step in bringing our 5G NTN technology into operational environments and provides an opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of our standards-based 5G NTN platform,” said Aniruddha Kulkarni, Managing Director of Effnet. “We are pleased to begin this program with a major satellite operator which represents a significant commercial milestone and successful completion of the program could open the path toward commercial deployments and a significant growth opportunity for the company.”
Effnet is developing both 5G NTN gNB and satellite terminal solutions designed for embedded platforms. The solution is highly scalable and optimized to deliver high throughput while operating within the constraints of satellite-based networks. It is aligned with evolving 3GPP NTN specifications and supports advanced architectures including regenerative mode deployments, where 5G gNB functionality can be hosted directly on satellite payloads.
These capabilities enable satellite operators, system integrators, and infrastructure providers to deploy standards-based 5G NTN networks supporting broadband connectivity, mobility services, and mission-critical communications. The architecture is designed to support secure, resilient and interoperable satellite connectivity, multi-orbit deployments, and seamless integration with terrestrial 5G infrastructure, addressing emerging requirements for next-generation satellite communication systems serving governmental, enterprise, and commercial users.
