Amersfoort, 18 May 2026 - Envipco Holding N.V. ("Envipco" or "the Company"), a leading global provider of recycling systems and Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) technology has signed the final RVM supply contract with Iceland Foods in the UK.
Reference is made to Envipco press release on 18 March 2026 announcing that the company had been appointed by a national UK retailer to supply approximately 1,500 Compact RVMs, pending final contracts. The parties have now signed final contracts. Delivery of RVMs are planned to commence from spring 2027 and be completed by the launch of UK DRS October 2027. The final agreement includes service on all RVMs supplied.
“We are thrilled to be selected as exclusive supplier of RVMs to Iceland Foods across the UK. Iceland Foods is an innovative and corner-stone retailer showcasing its commitment to the environment, circular economy and the introduction of the UK DRS by being an early mover in rolling out a comprehensive network of RVMs across its retail outlets. Envipco’s Compact RVM, tailored for convenience stores with limited space, is a unique competitive offering, representing a strong value proposition and a perfect fit for Iceland stores” says Spencer Roberts, Envipco Managing Director UK & Ireland.
The UK DRS market is a core element of Envipco’s greenfield market growth strategy. The company has actively engaged with UK retailers and industry stakeholders since early 2020s under continuous leadership and is now rapidly expanding out of its Warrington offices and demo facilities to help UK retailers prepare for the DRS launch by October 2027. Envipco’s broad range of RVM technology addresses all the UK’s unique store formats from small convenience to very large superstores.
An Iceland spokesperson said, “As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact, we are proud to support the UK wide Deposit Return Scheme, helping our customers to recycle more easily as part of their everyday shop. By integrating convenient return points into our stores, we are aiming to simplify recycling and contribute to increased recycling rates across the UK. This builds on our long-standing focus to deliver a convenient, great value shopping experience while supporting more sustainable choices for families every day.”
About UK DRS
The United Kingdom is actively engaging and preparing to launch a national Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland by 1 October 2027. The DRS comprises PET bottles and steel and aluminum cans up to 3 liter with a flat 20p deposit. Managed by the deposit management organization UK DMO, trading under Exchange for Change, the scheme targets 90% collection of the 26 billion single-use PET bottles and cans brought to market in the UK every year, making it one of the world’s largest DRSs when going live. The system will require a national network of approximately 35,000 RVMs and the system operator is proposing a handling fee structure and potential grant scheme to support wide RVM deployments across smaller, independent retailers and convenience stores.
