Amersfoort, 1 October 2024 – Envipco Holding N.V. (“Envipco” or “the Company”), a leading global provider of recycling systems and Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) technology, has been awarded a follow-on order with a major Romanian retail group.
Envipco has been awarded additional orders for more than 140 Optima RVMs to retail stores across the country, adding to the order of more than 200 Optima RVMs announced in Q3 24. Delivery of the follow-on order is scheduled for Q4 24.
“We are proud to once again be selected as a trusted supplier of RVMs to this leading Romanian retail group. Our RVMs are manufactured at our state of the art production plant in Sebes, Romania and are key to showcasing our commitment to advancing recycling technology and contributing to the improving environmental landscape in which the Romanian deposit return scheme is instrumental” says Group CEO Simon Bolton.
The Romanian deposit return scheme (DRS), operated by RetuRO SGR, was launched on 30 November 2023 and has through August 2024 collected nearly 1.9 billion containers. According to market surveys consumers are generally positive to the Romanian DRS and return rates are showing strong progress, reaching 78% in August, up from 62% in July and 49% in June according to RetuRO. To date 44% of containers put on the market under the DRS have been returned. RetuRO targets recovery of 65% of plastic, glass and metal beverage containers in 2024, increasing to 85% for glass containers and 90% for plastic and metal containers from 2026.
