The assignment is being carried out as a partnering project with Peab and Arne Lorentzon Fastigheter AB. The order value for Instalco is approximately SEK 100 million.

The three Instalco companies will be installing the ventilation, sprinkler, heating & plumbing and cooling systems. The project involves the refurbishment of an existing office building of approximately 13,000 square metres, which will be converted into a new prison facility.

“Instalco has delivered installations for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service on many occasions and we are proud to once again contribute to building a safer, more secure society – this time at another location in Sweden. We have a long history of successful collaboration with Peab on these types of assignments with a tight timeframe. Detention centres and correctional facilities are major projects that integrate many societal functions within a limited space. Accordingly, it entails stringent requirements on security,” says Kristian Grönskog, Business Area Manager for Instalco West.

Construction of the new prison in Skövde is part of the national effort to address the demand for additional correctional facility capacity in Sweden. Instalco has extensive experience of installation work for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, recently, for example, at facilities in Mariestad, Tidaholm, Kalmar and Västerås.

This project will be submitted for BREEAM sustainability certification, along with certifying it as a Sustainable Instalco Project. Planning and design of the project will begin immediately, with the installation work commencing after summer 2026 and completion during 2028.
