Six Instalco companies have been contracted for project design and installations at the new Gothenburg Central Station. The client is Peab and the end customer is Jernhusen. The contract value is approximately SEK 100 million.
The following Instalco companies are responsible for delivering the services associated with this contract: Elektro-Centralen, LG Contracting, Tofta Plåt & Ventilation, Sprinklerbolaget, Intec and Inmatiq. It involves project design and installation of the electrical, heating & plumbing, ventilation and sprinkler systems, as well as the control technology and automation.
“We are delighted to be a part of all of this, which will mean a lot to the residents of Gothenburg. One of the deciding factors for winning this assignment was being able to offer an overall solution to a customer that we have had a long and successful relationship with. Our package of installations is very much aligned with their needs of low energy consumption and focus on sustainability,” says Kristian Grönskog, Business Area Manager for Instalco West.
There is a great deal of construction going on in the area around Gothenburg Central Station and new city district that is under development there. The new Central Station building will be constructed adjacent to, and linked with, the Nils Ericson bus terminal. The 15,000 square metres will house a mix of stations, services for travellers, shops, restaurants and businesses. The three upper office floors, which will be completed in the first half of 2027, will provide space for around 700 workplaces spread over almost 8,000 square metres.
The Gothenburg Grand Central project is working to achieve ‘Breeam Outstanding’. This is an environmental certification that only about ten other buildings in Sweden currently fulfil. To achieve this, the materials have been optimised in the parts of the building that have the greatest impact on the climate footprint, such as ECO-concrete, recycled steel, glass, wooden columns and other materials.
The ambition is for the project to be certified by Instalco as a Sustainable Instalco Project. For Instalco, the project will start immediately and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
