Koskisen Corporation press release, May 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. EEST
The wood products company Koskisen's new Zero thin plywood has been awarded the Interzum High Product Quality distinction, which is given to products that stand out in terms of quality, innovation and sustainability. Held in Germany on 20–23 May, this year’s Interzum trade fair honors trailblazing products and concepts that emphasize sustainability and resource efficiency.
Zero ThinPly is made entirely from bio-based materials. It combines high-quality Finnish birch veneer with a completely non-toxic, bio-based adhesive. The adhesive used in Zero ThinPly has been developed in collaboration with Plantics, a company specializing in bio-based plastics and binders. Wood-based materials naturally store carbon, and their climate impact is lower compared to non-renewable alternatives.
“The award is a great recognition of our systematic work in developing bio-based and completely fossil-free wood products. We will continue our efforts to increase the use of sustainable raw materials,” says Tom-Peter Helenius, Director, Panel Industry.
Zero ThinPly complements Koskisen’s Zero product family and responds to the growing demand for bio-based solutions. Previously, the Zero product family introduced the world’s first particleboard made entirely from bio-based materials. Zero ThinPly is used in a variety of applications, including jewelry, furniture, lighting, and toy manufacturing.
Zero Thinply offers excellent workability, especially for laser cutting, and provides designers with the opportunity to realize their creative visions in a sustainable way.
