Bergen, Norway, March 27, 2025 – M Vest Water (EURONEXT: MVW) announces that Saudi Aramco has decided to qualify NORWAFLOC® and NORWAPOL® at Safaniya, the largest offshore oilfield in the world.

In Q4 2024, MVW successfully verified through initial jar tests that the implementation of MVW's patented NORWAFLOC® chemicals and NORWAPOL® filters can fully meet treatment criteria for current and future discharge limits at Safaniya.

The qualification will be executed in a two-week pilot at Safaniya Oil Field, scheduled to start on June 8th, 2025. The process involves treating a slip stream of 1000 barrels/day with equipment (a flotation unit) where the separation of oil and water is enhanced by dosing NORWAFLOC®, followed by final polishing in our disruptive NORWAPOL® filter.

Upon meeting Saudi Aramco’s treatment success criteria, MVW’s environmentally friendly, natural-based NORWAFLOC® chemical and the polishing filter NORWAPOL® will be qualified for use at Safaniya Oil Field and all Saudi Aramco oil fields in general.

Safaniya Oil Field alone has a produced water production of 600,000 barrels (95,000 m3) per day, representing more than 30% of the total produced water discharges at the entire Norwegian Continental Shelf.

MVW estimates that 20 more fields within Saudi Aramco will need improved treatment of produced water in the near future to meet internal and upcoming regulatory requirements. Among these fields, Gawar Oil Field is the largest onshore field in the world, with a produced water production exceeding the total produced water discharged at the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The reuse needs of produced water for enhanced oil recovery and significantly tightening discharge and disposal regulations (5 mg oil in water within 3 years) are strong drivers requiring significant investments in this industry in Saudi Arabia in the near future.

MVW can offer very competitive solutions upon successful qualification by Saudi Aramco, where in most cases existing produced water systems can be used as is with the addition of NORWAFLOC® chemical dosing and NORWAPOL® filtration.

“We are very pleased that Saudi Aramco opens its door for MVW to qualify its products. It normally takes 3-4 years to reach this final qualification step, which MVW has now achieved in just half a year. Qualification for Safaniya and Saudi Aramco in general is a significant and important milestone that we believe will boost our commercialization in the entire Middle East region,” says Tor Olav Gabrielsen, Executive Chairman at MVW.
