Bergen, Norway, January 24, 2025 – M Vest Water (EURONEXT: MVW) announces the commencement of the implementation process of NORWAFLOC® at five selected sites in North Germany. This follows the previous notification on December 6, 2024, where it was announced that MVW had been awarded a five-year Frame and Cooperation Agreement for the supply of NORWAFLOC® and services to dredging contractor VEBIRO in Germany.

MVW has started substituting synthetic polyacrylamide flocculant with its fully natural and biodegradable NORWAFLOC® at four dredging sites operated by VEBIRO, and one additional Sand & Gravel washing site. The average volume to be treated at each site is 40m³/h. A successful full-scale pilot could lead to the substitution of current synthetic chemical use with eco-friendly NORWAFLOC® in the magnitude of 400,000 kg/year.

In addition to potential sales to these sites, the piloting/implementation is crucial for several municipal tenders to be submitted in March and April for dredging operations starting in the summer of 2025. Consequently, VEBIRO and MVW will be the only bidders able to offer natural products for dewatering dredging sludge, a standard request in quotations that no contractor has been able to fulfill until now.

Together with VEBIRO, MVW is also starting full-scale operations with dewatering at a Sand & Gravel wash plant. Currently, sludge is filled un-dewatered into ponds as the municipality does not allow synthetic polyacrylamide to be used and demands natural dewatering chemicals. Until now, such natural solutions have not existed. MVW is commercially launching the first natural products that work in these operations to fully substitute polyacrylamide. A successful pilot/implementation will give MVW access to 120 identified customers in Germany, many of whom have requested a natural solution to meet the specifications outlined by the municipalities.

“We are very pleased with the performance and competitiveness of our innovative product for these applications, and we are impressed by the speed at which we are reaching the entire German market in these two segments through our partner VEBIRO. We are excited about the upcoming tendering process in March/April for all dredging operations starting this summer in Germany. It is with great comfort that we take on the tasks ahead of us in the next two months,” says Tor Olav Gabrielsen, Executive Chairman at MVW.
