British study shows clear benefit of Medclair's technology
A new clinical study published in the British Journal of Anaesthesia shows that Medclair's technology significantly reduces exposure to nitrous oxide in delivery rooms. With the company's system, levels decreased considerably and all studied rooms remained below British limit values. The study is particularly significant for Medclair as it was conducted in the UK, one of the company's priority markets.
The study was conducted at the Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospital Trust and evaluated both Medclair's central CDU and mobile MDU. Without destruction technology, seven out of eight delivery rooms exceeded the British COSHH limit. With Medclair's technology, all rooms were below the limit.
At the same time, the study shows a significant climate benefit. Over six months, the equivalent of approximately 59 tonnes of CO2e was destroyed.
"This is an extremely important study for Medclair. It clearly demonstrates the concrete benefit of our technology for both the working environment and the climate. The fact that the study was also conducted in the UK, which is one of our priority markets, makes the results particularly significant for us. Independent clinical results from British healthcare strengthen our position in the dialogue with both existing and potential customers in the market”, says Jonas Lundh, CEO of Medclair.
The study was published in 2026 in the British Journal of Anaesthesia. The authors conclude that both the central and mobile technology reduce nitrous oxide levels to below current safety limits and enable the continued use of nitrous oxide as pain relief while simultaneously reducing climate emissions.
