A three-year collaboration to standardize interventional cardiology education through advanced virtual reality simulation technology and innovative training frameworks.

Mentice AB (publ), a global leader in simulation solutions for image-guided interventional therapies, and AGIK, the Working Group on Interventional Cardiology within the German Society of Cardiology (DGK), have announced a strategic three-year partnership to transform interventional cardiology training in Germany. The collaboration enables Interventional Cardiologists in training official and standardized access to Mentice’s advanced simulation technology, with AGIK’s specialized educational programs to enhance the skills of novice and early-career cardiologists.

The initiative, starting with a pilot phase in 2024, aims to introduce a series of training events designed to provide a hands-on, patient-free experience through customized simulation modules. These initiatives align directly with AGIK’s mission to raise the standards of interventional cardiology by providing innovative and practical training that prepares physicians to handle the complexities of modern cardiovascular practice in a safe, ethical, and cost-effective environment. This creates a strong synergy to ensure trainees receive the highest-quality education.

The CEO of Mentice, Göran Malmberg, stated, “This collaboration represents a significant step forward in our commitment to advancing medical education and improving clinical outcomes. By working with AGIK, we aim to provide the next generation of cardiologists with the tools they need to excel in their field, ultimately benefiting patients across Germany.”

AGIK will contribute its extensive expertise in interventional cardiology by providing specialized training content, including case descriptions and selections. Mentice will use this input to create customized training modules integrated into AGIK’s workshops and courses. These modules will serve as the backbone of AGIK’s training programs and increase awareness of the importance of high-quality, endorsed educational solutions.

These modules, developed with the highest standards, will serve as the backbone of AGIK’s training programs and increase awareness of the importance of high-quality, endorsed educational solutions.

Prof. Dr. Med. Alexander Ghanem, Speaker of AGIK (Working Group Interventional Cardiology) of DGK (German Society of Cardiology, commented, “We are excited to partner with Mentice to elevate the standard of interventional cardiology training in Germany. This collaboration will allow us to combine our strengths and offer a comprehensive training solution that prepares cardiologists for the challenges of modern medical practice.”

The collaboration aims to ensure that novice and experienced interventional cardiologists receive comprehensive and up-to-date education. This, in turn, will enable them to perform complex procedures with increased precision and confidence. Ultimately leading to improved patient care, better clinical outcomes, and increased patient safety.

On a broader scale, the success of this partnership could have a ripple effect on the healthcare industry. By setting a new benchmark for medical education, it could inspire future partnerships between educational institutions, professional societies, and technology providers. Ultimately, this could drive innovation and excellence in medical education globally, benefiting not only interventional cardiologists but also patients and the healthcare industry as a whole.
