Nimbus Group AB (publ) has today received its first order for 60 units of the MSMB 200 workboat from the Swedish Armed Forces. The order value amounts to approximately SEK 260 million, with deliveries expected to commence in January 2027 and continue over a period of 36 months.

The MSMB 200 workboat has been developed by Nimbus Group in collaboration with its partner Svensk Konstruktionstjänst, Svekon. In 2024, Nimbus Group and Svekon won a public procurement tender for a framework agreement covering the development and manufacturing of a smaller workboat for the Swedish Armed Forces. As previously communicated by Nimbus Group, the maximum total order value for Nimbus Group is estimated to amount to approximately SEK 400 million over a 15‑year period.

The agreement includes serial production of up to 100 boats as well as spare parts. The MSMB 200 is constructed in aluminium, measures 11 metres in length and is equipped with a powerful inboard engine. The boat is capable of transporting a crew of two and up to eight passengers with equipment, making it a flexible and efficient asset for the Swedish Armed Forces’ naval operations. Earlier this year, the MSMB 200 successfully completed approved sea trials, also known as Sea Acceptance Tests (SAT).

The MSMB 200 is based on the fully welded aluminum structures developed under Nimbus Group’s Alukin brand. The MSMB 200 project is a successful example of how existing civilian products can be rapidly adapted for use by government and defense organizations.

“The MSMB 200 builds on our existing capabilities in advanced product development and serial production. The order paves the way for expanding our business within the growing market for various types of workboats. This segment is particularly attractive as it offers long-term contracts and large production volumes and is significantly less sensitive to temporary economic fluctuations. Nimbus Group intends to further explore the substantial opportunities in this segment,” says Johan Inden, President and CEO of Nimbus Group.
