RanLOS continues to strengthen its position in antenna and wireless communication testing for the automotive industry. With their innovative test system that can be used in-house, directly at vehicle manufacturers’ facilities, RanLOS offers a more accessible, flexible, and cost-effective way to test antennas and communication systems. This is becoming increasingly important as vehicles become more connected and the need for testing grows among vehicle manufacturers.
Volvo Cars is a vehicle manufacturer that currently uses RanLOS solutions. In addition to the collaboration within the research projects SIVERT 1 and 2, Volvo Cars has invested in a complete test system from RanLOS, consisting of BeamForce 42, BeamTilt, and the company’s proprietary software BeamLab.
The SIVERT projects have contributed to the further development of RanLOS’ test system, including the development of antenna arrays for different frequency ranges. BeamForce 42 enables flexible and repeatable in-house testing of vehicular antennas and wireless communication throughout the entire development process. This saves time and reduces the need for external test facilities. BeamTilt is a lift-and-tilt solution that further extends testing capabilities by adjusting the reflector’s position vertically and up to 20 degrees in tilt. All testing is controlled and analyzed using RanLOS software BeamLab.
Together, RanLOS solutions enable Volvo Cars to continuously test, evaluate, and optimize antenna performance and wireless communication performance on-site, where development takes place
– By using the RanLOS test system in-house, our customers in the automotive industry – including Volvo Cars – can continuously evaluate the performance of antennas and wireless performance. This can shorten the development process and optimize wireless communication for connected vehicles in a much more cost-effective way,” says Lars Granbom, CEO of RanLOS
Functions that are vital for autonomous driving, connected services, traffic information, and advanced safety systems place high demands on wireless performance for vehicles. The RanLOS solution makes it possible to ensure this performance in a reliable and efficient way.
