RanLOS AB (“RanLOS” or “the Company”) is built on research from Chalmers University of Technology. Today, the Company is dedicated to developing innovative solutions for testing antennas and wireless communication. The company was founded by Professor Per-Simon Kildal (1951–2016), one of the world’s leading antenna experts. He was the founder of RanLOS, Gapwaves, and Bluetest, and his innovations have had a lasting impact on industries such as telecommunications, automotive, and 5G technology.
To preserve his legacy and inspire future generations, the Per-Simon Kildal Foundation, established by his family, supports research and innovation in antennas and propagation. A key initiative of the foundation is the Per-Simon Kildal Award for Best PhD in Antennas and Propagation.
The Per-Simon Kildal Award was created in collaboration with the European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP) and recognizes outstanding research by young scientists. It is presented annually at the prestigious European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP). The award was made possible through a donation by the Per-Simon Kildal Foundation, initiated by Cécile Schilliger, Madeleine Schilliger Kildal, and Susanne Schilliger Kildal, honoring their husband and father.
“This award is a way to carry my father’s (Per-Simon’s) legacy forward. He was passionate about innovation, research, and supporting young scientists in their work. Through the award, we continue encouraging the next generation in antenna technology and propagation.”
– Madeleine Schilliger Kildal, daughter and System Applications Engineer, PhD, at RanLOS

RanLOS at EuCAP 2025 in Stockholm
This year, EuCAP will be held in Stockholm, where the award will be presented for the seventh time. RanLOS will, of course, be attending and looks forward to meeting industry professionals and partners, as well as celebrating the next recipient of the award.
A legacy of innovation
Kildal was more than an inventor; he was a mentor and collaborator who believed in sharing knowledge to drive progress. His work bridged the gap between research and real-world applications.
At RanLOS, we take pride in continuing his work, collaborating with universities and other companies, and creating solutions engineered to make a difference. The Per-Simon Kildal Award ensures his passion for innovation lives on, inspiring future researchers in the field of antennas and propagation.
