• Record series production in August: 4.3 million Engine Equivalents
• July-August annualised series production up 11% year-on-year
• July-August consumables shipments up 73% year-on-year

[Stockholm, 5 September 2023] – Annualised series production in August increased 16% year-on-year to establish a new all-time high of 4.3 million Engine Equivalents. The new record surpassed the previous monthly high of 4.1 million Engine Equivalents set in June. Despite summer shutdowns that spanned from July into the beginning of August at some key customers, the demand remained high throughout the summer period. Together, the July-August period provided an 11% year-on-year increase in production volume, and a strong start to the second half of the year.

The August volume corresponds to the production of approximately 100,000 vehicles, of which more than 95% are commercial vehicles, pick-up trucks and off-road equipment. The use of SinterCast-CGI in these applications improves fuel efficiency and reduces CO2 emissions. Ultimately, the August production will contribute to the saving of more than one million tonnes of CO2 over the life of the vehicles.

Consumable shipments also enjoyed a strong start to the second half of the year, with July-August shipments 73% higher than the same period last year. Initially, year-on-year consumable shipments were down 32% at the end of the first quarter, as key customers reduced stock levels following the post-Covid normalisation of supply chains. However, the recent strong demand has pulled the 2023 January-to-August volume 3% ahead of 2022. In total 127,300 Sampling Cups have been shipped year-to date, with 44,700 units accounted for in the July-August summer period.
