SSH Communications Security (SSH), a global leader in secure communications solutions, is proud to announce the release of a new version of its flagship NQX network encryption solution platform, designed to protect sensitive data-in-transit with cutting-edge, quantum-resilient technologies. 
 
Key highlights of the release include: 

• The latest Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) key exchange algorithms are now available 
• New up to 100% faster high-performance encryption with the new NQX 5200 appliance 
• NQX 3.1 release will include NATO Restricted, EU Restricted certifications, as well as the Finnish National Confidential Level certification

To protect organizations against quantum threats, SSH introduces the new NQX 3.1 release, featuring support for ML-KEM and FrodoKEM post-quantum key exchange algorithms. These algorithms have been carefully implemented to ensure minimal impact on encryption performance, making quantum-safe encryption viable for high-bandwidth environments such as inter-data center communications. 
 
This launch aligns with the European Union’s recently published post-quantum cryptography (PQC) roadmap, which urges Member States to begin the transition to PQC. Organizations need to start the migration to PQC resiliency now, especially those with critical infrastructure, to ensure they’re prepared for future quantum threats. NQX 3.1 supports this transition by providing high-assurance, standards-aligned encryption. 
  
Towards NATO and EU Restricted Certifications 
 
SSH Communications Security has initiated the certification process with the Finnish National Cyber Security Centre (NCSA-FI) to achieve NATO and EU Restricted and certifications as well national confidential level classification for the NQX 3.1 release. Certifications are expected to be granted by the end of 2025, reinforcing NQX’s suitability for classified and critical communications across defence and the public and private sectors.

At the heart of the new release is the NQX 5200, a 1U rack-mount appliance delivering 100Gbps encryption performance. It supports both Layer 2 (Ethernet) and Layer 3 (IP) operational modes, which is unique on the market. The dual functionality provides flexible deployment models with one platform. 
Whether securing backbone infrastructure or enterprise-scale connectivity, the NQX 5200 empowers organizations with top-tier performance, operational agility, and future-ready cryptographic assurance. 
 
Expanded Portfolio for Diverse Environments 
 
Alongside the 5200, SSH Communications Security is expanding its NQX lineup to meet varied deployment needs: 

• High-performance encryption for data centers, delivering 100Gbps connections with PQC-resilient key exchange (NQX 5200) 
• Compact and powerful encryption for office and branch environments, with over 15Gbps PQC performance (NQX 1170) 
• Rugged protection for OT production sites and various mobile use cases, built for resilient performance in harsh or challenging conditions (NQX 120) 

Protecting against Quantum Threat by providing a solution family from mobility to large datacenters connectivity in a cost efficient and easy and quick to deploy manner is an immediate necessity. New global and regional standards and mandates have recently rapidly accelerated the transition to Quantum Safety, utilizing PQC (Post Quantum Cryptography). NQX was the first solution initially as PQC encryptor and the recent release significantly enhances performance with latest PQC algorithms. NQX is built on crypto-agility – unlike many competing hardware-based solutions – and is therefore always up to date with the latest PQC standards implementations.

SSH is a member of the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Post-Quantum Cryptography Building Block Consortium to ensure proper transition to PQC on the market.
