Umecrine Cognition receives Notice of Allowance in the US for patents protecting second-generation GAMSA compounds
STOCKHOLM – September 7, 2026. Umecrine Cognition today announced that it has received two Notices of Allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the company’s patent applications directed to two second-generation substances in the same drug class (GAMSA) as its current clinical drug candidate golexanolone. The new generation of compounds will fit into the company’s development area targeting neurodegenerative diseases.
Umecrine Cognition has received Notice of Allowances from the US Patent and Trademark Office for patents protecting the compounds GR3053 and GR3055, the company’s second-generation of GAMSA (GABA-A receptor Modulating Steroid Antagonist) compounds. The patents will provide NCE (New Chemical Entity) patent protection in the US until at least 2042.
With these two patents GR3053 and GR3055 extend Umecrine Cognition's novel drug-class platform, for neurodegenerative diseases, where the company sees early commercial opportunities.
