Tom Vidar Rygh recommended as new Chair of the Board of Directors of Xplora Technologies AS
Xplora's Nomination Committee has recommended Tom Vidar Rygh as new Chair of the Board of Directors of Xplora Technologies AS (Xplora).
Mr. Rygh has extensive experience in the telecommunications and technology sectors, having served as Chair of Telenor ASA and as a board member of NetCom ASA and Telia Overseas AB. He also brings broad strategic, financial and governance expertise from leading Norwegian and international companies, including Oslo Børs, Carlsberg Breweries A/S and Storebrand ASA. For more than a decade, he served as Chair of Europris ASA, where he played an active role incompany's development as a listed company.
The Nomination Committee considers Mr. Rygh’s background particularly relevant to Xplora as the Company enters its next phase of development. His experience provides valuable exposure to the telecommunications and technology sectors. Mr. Rygh indirectly owns 100,000 shares in Xplora through a wholly owned investment company. The Nomination Committee has also considered Mr. Rygh’s independence and concludes that he meets the applicable independence requirements to serve as Chair of the Board.
The current Chair of the Board, Tore Engebretsen, will step down as Chair, after seven years in the position in which Xplora has experienced a remarkable expansion, growth and development.
"Working with Sten and XPLORA is a true pleasure. However, I will be 75 this autumn. There is a time for everything," states Engebretsen.
The election of the new Chair of the Board, as well as the resignation of the current Chair, will take place at an Extraordinary General Meeting in October, which will be convened shortly.
