After several earlier deliveries to Metsä Group, Meltron has now received a first order to Metsä Fibre's bioproduct mill in Kemi, Finland's largest forest industry project and investment ever. The order is for 100+ street lights MRS, both the single version with four light panels and the double version with eight light panels. Deliveries are scheduled in the spring; Meltron has secured the supply of components. Meltron co-operates with Ases, which is a partner of Metsä Fibre.
Meltron was selected in tough competition with other large brand names, which involved a long and meticulous evaluation by Metsä and AFRY, one of the main implementation partners of the project. The previous successful deliveries to Metsä Group and the over-all quality and superior optics creating a uniform distribution of light was again one of the decisive factors for Metsä Group's selection of Meltron as supplier.
The Metsä Fibre bioproduct mill in Kemi, which will start its operations in the third quarter2023, will produce approximately 1,5 mill tons of pulp per year besides many other bioproducts as well as 2 TWh of renewable electricity per year. During construction the project engages some 15,000 different persons. Main implementation partners are Valmet, ABB, AFRY and Fimpec.
- The street light segment is very competitive and it has taken a long time for Meltron's unique street light system to be recognized. We believe it has enormous long-term opportunities, says Jarmo Korpisalo, sales Meltron Oy. We will continue to work with Metsä to also offer other lighting solutions to the Kemi project.
