As part of the Swedish business delegation, the Swedish Energy-tech company SeaTwirl AB joins the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, France on 9-13 June 2025.
SeaTwirl has been invited by Business Sweden to join the Swedish business delegation at UNOC3 in Nice on 9-13 June 2025. Sweden will for the first time host a high-level side event as part of UNOC3, "Blue Solutions: Existing Innovations for Protecting and Sustainably Managing Our Ocean and Coasts", organised by Business Sweden and the Swedish Embassy in France.
Held today on 9 June, the seminar will focus on accelerating the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG14) by conserving, restoring and sustainably managing marine and coastal ecosystems. The seminar is part of a broader Swedish business delegation to UNOC3 and SeaTwirl will join as one of seven cutting-edge Swedish companies that will be showcased.
In the presence of H.R.H The Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Sweden's Minister for Climate and Environment, Romina Pourmokhtari, and France's Minister for Ecological Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the event will bring together leading research institutes, pioneering companies, and international partners. Two expert panels will explore international collaboration and present scalable, Swedish-led innovations and SeaTwirl's CEO Johan Sandberg will represent SeaTwirl.
"The awareness about wind power in deep waters is quickly increasing around the world and it is encouraging to see it on the agenda here at the UNOC. The complexity around conflicting interests in the ocean is immense and we need to find the balance between energy security, military, shipping, fisheries, climate, and environmental concerns. At UNOC3, SeaTwirl will be highlighted by Business Sweden as a Swedish business innovation that can foster sustainable growth, job creation and a more prosperous, climate-resilient future as well as supporting the Paris Agreement and to accelerate the implementation of SDG14.
United Nations Ocean Conference takes place every three years and is described as one of the most important events of this decade for our ocean's future. The co-hosts-France and Costa Rica-are driving forward complementary and ambitious initiatives that could shape the future of global ocean action. The theme for this year is "Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean".
