SeaTwirl has appointed offshore wind industry veteran Johan Sandberg as its new CEO. He will start no later than March 1, 2023.
"I am very pleased that we have recruited Johan Sandberg as CEO of SeaTwirl. He has broad experience from different commercial and technical roles within the offshore wind industry and will contribute with his understanding of the market, deep domain area expertise and international network of contacts in floating wind that he brings from his earlier roles. He is also an energetic and inspiring leader, which is something we value," says Dan Friberg, Board Chairman.
Johan Sandberg has worked in offshore wind with a specific focus on floating wind turbine technology since 2008, when he began his career at certification body DNV. His broad expertise covers everything from design standards and supply chain to operations and policy. At DNV, he had global responsibility for offshore renewables advisory services, responsibility for developing the world's first design standard for floating wind turbines, and the world's only guideline for integrating offshore wind with offshore oil & gas installations. Since 2019 he has been the Head of Business Development for floating offshore wind at Aker Solutions, Aker Offshore Wind, and Freja Offshore.
"We are now feeling the full force of a brutal energy crisis, driven by energy security, affordability, and climate change. For years I have stated that we need to dare to think big, unconventional thoughts to solve it, and in joining SeaTwirl I intend to live up to that statement," says Johan Sandberg, incoming CEO of SeaTwirl, and continues:

Current CEO Peter Laurits will remain CEO until Johan comes onboard and support him during a transition phase before moving into a new role at the company.
