Urb-it, the rapidly growing sustainable logistics platform, today announces its partnership with SunRider, manufacturer of self-charging solar powered cargo-bikes.
Urb-it has partnered with SunRider, the leading manufacturer of solar-powered cargo bikes, to introduce a solar-powered cargo bike solution to its European operation. The collaboration aims to enable greater delivery distances and improve fleet utilization while reducing CO2 emissions.
By integrating solar panels onto the bike, the SunRider's battery can be recharged on the go, resulting in a reduction in downtime and increased fleet utilization. Charged through up to 100 % solar, the SunRider offers market-leading delivery ranges of more than 100km on a single battery, all while reducing CO2 emissions by up to 95 %. For Urb-it, this means decreased direct and indirect delivery costs per parcel.
Hannes Skugghall, Chief Mission Officer & UK Country Manager, commented:
"The collaboration between Urb-it and SunRider is a significant step towards reducing the carbon footprint of last-mile delivery operations in the UK. With the solar-powered cargo bike, Urb-it is now equipped to deliver goods over more extended distances in an eco-friendly, sustainable manner, providing businesses with a unique opportunity to enhance their sustainability credentials while meeting the growing demand for responsible and eco-friendly delivery options".
Chris van Houdt, Chief Energy Officer of SunRider, commented:
"Going electric has already achieved promising results in assisting worldwide zero-emission goals. However, the focus must address the world's reliance on fossil fuels. Currently, most of the energy used to charge batteries is still sourced from fossil fuels, therefore still producing CO2 emissions. We are energized to join forces with Urb-it as they lead by example towards truly sustainable logistics".
