"It is noticeable that the threshold for moving to Bergsjön has become lower and lower. With these beautiful new homes, we are strengthening the image of a green, safe and pleasant area to live in," says Erik Selin, CEO of Balder.

Since 2013, Balder has made investments in Bergsjön involving both reconstructions and social initiatives with the area's young people in focus. The city's vision is to make the district more accessible and to create new unique types of accommodation. In Bergsjö Småstad, Balder has started three projects involving larger apartments and attractive terraced houses. The overall project includes internal and external reconstruction of existing buildings, and also development of life between the buildings with new playgrounds, more playing fields and meeting places for socialising. In total, about 280 new homes are being produced in the form of terraced houses and apartments as tenant-owner's and rental apartments.

The new terraced houses are prefabricated by Hällingsjö Hus in a well-protected indoor environment and are assembled on site in Bergsjön. The terraced houses are certified according to Sweden Green Building Council's Miljöbyggnad Silver rating for good sustainability and low energy consumption. The standard is consistently high with kitchen from Vedum, fully tiled bathroom and beautiful white lacquered parquet flooring. Apart from the terraced houses themselves, Balder is investing in the external environment including a green courtyard, a large playground and a newly built street in the area. 

The terraced houses in Bergsjö Gård are expected to be ready by summer 2020. The houses are being constructed in two floors and are of 119 square metres in total. The price lies in the range between SEK 2,395,000 and 2,670,000.

"It will be a lot of house for the money, very cost-effective housing with the same high quality as in all our areas," says Erik Lavehall, Regional Manager for Balder's Property Management division in Gothenburg.

The first sod was turned jointly by Erik Selin, CEO of Balder, Hampus Magnusson, Chairman of the Building Committee and first Vice Chairman of the Property Management Committee, and Jan Svensson, CEO of Hällingsjö Hus.

Bergsjö Småstad is a project in the Bostad2021 initiative, where the City of Gothenburg in collaboration with a number of developers will build 7,000 extra apartments in order to meet the growing city's huge need for housing. The apartments shall be ready for occupation for Gothenburg's 400th anniversary in 2021.
