Passenger load factor improved, supported by lower capacity - significant decline in North Atlantic traffic continued

In October, Finnair carried 1,034,500 passengers, which was 1.2% more than in October 2024. Passenger numbers grew significantly in Asian traffic and slightly also in European traffic but declined significantly in Middle Eastern and North Atlantic traffic. In Domestic traffic, the number of passengers remained stable.

Overall capacity, measured in available seat kilometres (ASK), decreased by 2.3%. Capacity grew significantly in Asian traffic, driven primarily by added frequencies to Osaka and Nagoya in Japan. In North Atlantic traffic, capacity declined significantly, primarily due to fewer frequencies to Los Angeles. In Middle Eastern traffic, ASKs decreased due to the end of cooperation with Qatar Airways on flights between Stockholm, Copenhagen and Doha on 15 January 2025. Capacity decreased slightly also in European traffic. In Domestic traffic, capacity remained stable. Including wet lease outs, overall capacity decreased by 2.3%.

Finnair's traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), increased by 1.5%. RPKs saw growth in Asian and European traffic, while declining in Middle Eastern, North Atlantic and Domestic traffic.

Passenger load factor (PLF) increased by 3.0% points to 80.8%. PLF improved in Middle Eastern, European and Asian traffic but declined in North Atlantic and Domestic traffic.

Total cargo tonnes declined by 6.5%. Revenue cargo tonne kilometres declined by 3.3%.

In October, 85.1% of all Finnair flights arrived on schedule compared to 83.9% in the comparison period.
