Front Ventures signs memorandum of understanding with Swedish defence manufacturer - manufacturing in Sweden for defence technology companies
Front Ventures AB (publ) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Swedish defence manufacturer. The manufacturer will act as production partner to those Front Ventures portfolio companies that need to manufacture, assemble and service defence materiel in Sweden and Europe.
European defence buyers increasingly seek materiel that is manufactured and maintained in Europe and, in some cases, within their own country. Several Front Ventures portfolio companies therefore need local production capacity.
Front Ventures introduces relevant portfolio companies to the manufacturer, which contributes its factory, personnel, equipment, manufacturing expertise and quality assurance. The cooperation starts with service and maintenance and may, as volumes grow, extend to manufacturing and assembly.
The first application is the cooperation announced in Front Ventures' press release of 23 October 2026. The parties will begin by mapping the manufacturer's capabilities against the needs of that cooperation, with any cooperation subject to any necessary permits and authorisations.
The manufacturer is an OEM-neutral defence manufacturing company with a factory in Sweden. The company holds a distinctive position as a Swedish manufacturer of small arms and infantry weapons approved by the Swedish Inspectorate of Strategic Products. It is in the process of being certified under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and NATO's AQAP-2110.
Each project will be agreed separately between the portfolio company and the manufacturer, subject to the applicable regulatory approvals. The MoU is largely non-binding and grants no exclusivity.
- Our portfolio companies have products that European armed forces want, but many must manufacture locally to meet security-of-supply requirements. With this cooperation they gain a serious industrial partner in Sweden that can take them from technology to production. It strengthens our strategy of helping portfolio companies scale, says Jonas Malmgren, CEO of Front Ventures.
