A 680.000 EUR (7.6 MSEK) contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) will help GomSpace to accelerate development of new Ka-Band communications products to achieve full market introduction in 2026.

The new radio products will support our customers to achieve a higher data return from their missions and more radio spectrum licensing options supporting a diverse set of mission applications. The products will be introduced into the "NanoCom Link" family of advanced radios, which are already performing very well on the market and creates significant earnings for GomSpace.

"Introducing new products is a key part of our strategy to continue growth in our product sales performance. The collaboration with ESA allows us to accelerate our roadmap implementation without increasing our cash investment in development, and we benefit from access to ESA experts in the development and qualification process.", Henrik Kalstrup, Vice President of Products Business Unit.

The project is supported through ESA's General Support Technology Program (GSTP) after competitive selection of project proposals and funded through the Danish contribution to ESA. It is co-funded through GSTP's Element 2, which aims to support and co-fund the design, development and demonstration of activities based on industry proposals. By supporting these market-oriented activities, Element 2 encourages more ideas and partnerships and ultimately leads to the most innovative technologies for European space industry.

The new radio products will not only be a product in the Products Business Unit but will also be an important building block in our complete satellite platform kits and solutions offered by GomSpace to commercial and national stakeholders with needs for state-of-the-art capabilities and reliability.

The project is aligned with the updated Danish Space Strategy from November 2024 linked to "Initiative 9: Efforts to commercialize Danish space research and technology development". Denmark has in January 2025 allocated more funding to ESA programs targeting technology development activities providing more opportunities for such projects for GomSpace in the future.
