Pihlajalinna's CEO to change
Pihlajalinna Plc's Board of Directors and CEO Joni Aaltonen have mutually agreed that Aaltonen will transfer to new positions in the company as of today 9 March 2023. He will start as Director, Pirkanmaa and Mid-Finland region and will also assist in M&A transactions. Pihlajalinna's founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors Mikko Wirén will act as interim CEO. The search for a new CEO is underway.
"Joni Aaltonen, who has worked at Pihlajalinna since 2008 and acted as CEO since 2017, has been building the company from its very beginning in many different positions. During the past years as CEO, he has built nationwide network of private clinics and hospital services for the company and completed numerous acquisitions. These have increased Pihlajalinna's market share and business operations significantly. Also, the COVID-19 pandemic challenged the company's business operations during his CEO period. Now, we have mutually concluded that it is time to find a new CEO to steer the company forward. Strengthening the company's financial position, ensuring profitability in line with the strategic business goals, and promoting and developing the wellbeing of our employees are the key priorities in the new phase of Pihlajalinna," says Mikko Wirén.
"I am content with leaving my position as CEO. The company is ready to move on to the next phase. Now is the right time to hand over the responsibilities to the next person. I want to thank the entire Management Team and personnel - we have achieved a lot together. I am also pleased that our cooperation will continue in Pihlajalinna's home region in Pirkanmaa and Mid-Finland," says Joni Aaltonen.
Due to the change, Leena Niemistö, the Vice-Chairman of the Board, will take over as the Chairman of Pihlajalinna's Board. Mikko Wirén will continue as a member of the Board.
