"Sweco has delivered utility services in energy, water, environment and urban development in Ukraine for over 30 years. With these new projects financed by several stakeholders, we are proud to continue working closely with Ukrainian authorities and local experts as a long-term partner in Ukraine's recovery and sustainable development," says Åsa Bergman, President and CEO, Sweco.
 

The new projects are:

• Sweco has signed a framework agreement with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Naturvårdsverket, to provide consultancy services in the field of waste management in Ukraine. The Swedish EPA, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture is working to build capacity and to facilitate the EU-alignment and implementation process in the environmental sector. The Swedish EPA is implementing a project funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The project, "Institutional cooperation on EU accession in the environment and waste sector in Ukraine," aims to enhance the capacity of authorities at national, regional and local levels to implement efficient waste management systems. Under the agreement, Sweco will support the Swedish EPA with the implementation of the project. The framework agreement has a total value of up to SEK 7.5 million and runs to December 2027. 
   
• Sweco has also been appointed to lead two major wastewater infrastructure projects in Ukraine. The projects aim to restore and future-proof essential services as part of international efforts to strengthen the country's critical infrastructure. The projects are located in Mykolaiv and Rivne. The Mykolaiv project is being delivered on behalf of Impact Fund Denmark (formerly Danida Sustainable Infrastructure Finance), while the Rivne project is funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The agreements have a total value of up to DKK 7.0 million and commenced in June 2025, and are scheduled for completion in Q1 2026.

Sweco's projects in Ukraine 
With a portfolio of over 70 projects, Sweco has consistently delivered engineering services in Ukraine's energy, industrial, water and wastewater sectors for more than 30 years. This work includes district heating, building energy efficiency, residential housing and wastewater treatment. Over time, Sweco has built a strong track record of successful collaboration with bilateral and multilateral donors, development banks and a well-established network of local partners across the country.
