Synsam Group's e-commerce continues to grow in response to increasing customer demand for vision correction. To accommodate rising volumes, Synsam Group is today inaugurating its new and expanded e-commerce warehouse in Spånga, north of Stockholm. The facility also houses Synsam's workshop for secondhand frames, dedicated to its circular secondhand product range.
In 2024, the Group's contact lens subscription service generated revenue of SEK 415 million (375), while net online sales increased to SEK 211 million (174). At the same time, the inflow of secondhand spectacles from the store network grew. To meet this increasing demand, Synsam Group is now opening its expanded e-commerce warehouse and workshop for secondhand frames in Spånga.
Doubling warehouse space to meet demand
The new warehouse space totals 2,700 square meters-double the previous size-allowing for more efficient logistics, increased capacity, and improved service for customers across the Nordic region.
"The need for vision correction is growing in line with an aging population and an increasingly digital lifestyle. Synsam Group continues to lead the way by investing in both physical and digital accessibility. Around one million customer needs will be met through e-commerce in Spånga for the Nordic market," says Håkan Lundstedt, President and CEO of Synsam Group.
Synsam's workshop for secondhand frames enables a circular business model
Synsam's subscription model supports a circular business approach, where spectacles (frames) and sunglasses are reused and recycled. When customers return a pair of spectacles during their annual exchange, they are sent to Synsam's workshop for refurbishment. Fault-free products are given a new lifecycle, either sold as secondhand or rented out again through the subscription service. An estimated 150,000 consumers across Synsam's Nordic store network will have the opportunity to choose a secondhand frame prepared by the workshop in Spånga. Spectacles that cannot be reused are sent for material recycling.
New job opportunities
The expansion of Synsam Group's e-commerce warehouse and workshop for secondhand frames will create several new jobs. At the time of the inauguration, more than 50 employees are working at the facility. Synsam Group has approximately 4,000 employees in total, an annual turnover of around SEK 6.4 billion, and operates almost 600 stores across the Nordic region under the brands Synsam, Synsam Outlet, and Profil Optik in Denmark.
