Robot Analyst Rane Returns to the Inderes Team - “The Time Wasn’t Right Last Time”

Inderes is resuming the publication of analysis comments written by a robot today, after a five-year pause. As its first task, the robot named Rane analyzed Duell’s interim report today.

“When Rane was launched in 2019 it didn’t pass its internship for various reasons. The experiment failed to bring efficiency to work processes or better service to investors. The time wasn’t right then, but now the technology is significantly more mature,” commented AI strategist Markus Hav.

High-quality Content Quickly with the Help of the Robot

The core idea of integrating the robot into work processes remains the same. “With the help of the robot, we can produce high-quality content for investors quickly and accurately. For example, we can publish an initial comment on earnings releases within minutes or even seconds. Analysts will then publish a more in-depth view of the earnings report afterward,” it was stated during Rane’s release in July 2019.

The democratization of investor information can be significantly accelerated with technology. Inderes aims to have low hurdle in bringing new experiments developed within its teams to customers and investors.

Based on a “Thinking” AI Model

The new assistant for the analysis team is based on OpenAI’s o1 model, released in September. “Earlier language models couldn’t generate sufficiently engaging content or understand the complex context required in analysis work—they could mostly just summarize information,” Hav explains. “With the new o1 model, capable of reasoning, the AI can structure and process text and data much more deeply, which has been a game-changer for quick comments.”

The comments produced by the robot can be identified on Inderes’ service by the author name “Rane Robotti.” The comments are initially published only in Finnish. The feature is in a trial phase, and Inderes reserves the right to fail again.
