Cambi has entered into an agreement with a consortium formed by Espina, Obrascon
and Aquambiente to deliver a thermal hydrolysis process (THP) system for the new
Silvouta wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
The THP system will be installed between two digestion stages, a Cambi
configuration recognised for its ability to maximise biogas production and
wastewater sludge dewatering, while producing high-quality, stable biosolids
suitable for land application, contributing to a more sustainable and
cost-effective operation.
Per Lillebø, Cambi CEO, remarked: "I am very pleased that Cambi has been
selected to deliver our technology for this state-of-the-art wastewater
treatment plant in Spain. We look forward to good collaboration with the
consortium to provide sustainable solutions that enhance sludge treatment
processes, reduce environmental impact, and promote resource recovery in Spain."
The integration of Cambi's THP at Silvouta aligns with the plant's design to
generate energy for internal consumption and produce high-quality biosolids for
agricultural use.
The Silvouta WWTP is built by the state-owned company Aguas de las Cuencas de
España (ACUAES) to treat an average wastewater flow equivalent to about one
Olympic-size swimming pool per hour, serving a population of approximately
250,000 residents.
Silvouta will be Cambi's fifth installation in Spain. Delivery of the THP system
to the site is scheduled for 2026.
