Capsol Technologies has entered a preliminary license agreement for the use of
CapsolEoP® carbon capture solution at KVA Linth's waste-to-energy (WtE) plant
located in Switzerland. The plant will have a carbon capture potential of more
than 120 000 tonnes of CO2 per year, of which half of the CO2 is biogenic.
In the current project phase, KVA Linth conducts parallel design studies with
Hot Potassium Carbonate (HPC) and Amine based carbon capture technologies. As
part of the preliminary license agreement, Capsol will provide the carbon
capture plant design within the next months, to support KVA Linth in making its
technology decision.
"This agreement follows on the successful feasibility study we delivered in
2023. Capsol looks forward to supporting KVA Linth on their journey to install
the first large-scale carbon capture plant in Switzerland. The preliminary
license agreement clarifies the involvement and general terms of Capsol's
licensing in the project going forward," says Wendy Lam, CEO of Capsol
Technologies.
Capsol Technologies' traction within WtE:
- This award includes Capsol Technologies' ninth engineering study for the WtE
industry, totalling a potential of about three million tonnes of CO2 to be
captured annually.
- In December 2023, Capsol was awarded a license agreement for using CapsolEoP®
at a WtE plant of a European utility.
- In September 2022, a CapsolGo® carbon capture demonstration campaign was
initiated at OresundskraftŽs WtE plant Filbornaverket in Helsingborg, Sweden.
- Capsol is currently running a 12-month CapsolGo® demonstration campaign for a
major German energy company, including a campaign on a WtE plant.
- Capsol is currently executing a CapsolGo® demonstration campaign for German
utility EEW Energy from waste.
- In October 2023, Capsol signed a contract for the delivery of two CapsolGo®
demonstration campaigns to be executed at Sumitomo SHI FW's client base, one of
them a WtE plant in the Nordics.
