DNB: Solid results across operations in the Nordics
2026-10-21 07:30:43
DNB delivered profits after tax of NOK 9.8 billion in the third quarter of 2026,
which is a decrease of NOK 839 million, or 7.9 per cent, compared with the
corresponding period last year.
"The Norwegian economy is robust. The vast majority of the population have a job
and secure personal finances. People are continuing to save and invest, while
companies are investing and developing their business operations. This provides
a good starting point for further growth," says CEO of DNB Kjerstin Braathen.
"At the same time, we are seeing good activity throughout the Nordic region,
with particularly strong growth in Sweden. With DNB Carnegie, we have
strengthened the scope of our operations and our Nordic position, and we can to
an even greater extent help customers realise their ambitions through advisory
services and financing," says Braathen.
More customers are choosing DNB for saving and investments
DNB delivered record results in asset management in the quarter, driven by
strong customer growth and high capital inflows across business operations.
Assets under management in DNB's mutual fund solutions reached NOK 1,849
billion, up NOK 67.6 billion from the previous quarter, while there was an all
-time high net flow to mutual funds of NOK 54.5 billion.
"We are seeing a strong development in savings and investments, with both more
customers and increased saving. The fact that the average holding per mutual
fund customer has exceeded NOK 500,000 and has doubled in five years shows that
more and more people are choosing mutual funds as an important part of their
long-term saving," says Braathen.
Annual saving in mutual funds, through fixed savings schemes, has increased by
14 per cent so far this year, to NOK 12.6 billion.
Record quarter for DNB Carnegie Investment Banking
At DNB Carnegie, customer income was strong in the third quarter, with good
development across regions and business areas. Income increased by 25 per cent,
to NOK 2.8 billion.
"The integration of Carnegie is going to plan and yielding results. Customers
are choosing us for increasingly large and more complex transactions, and this
confirms that we have established a leading Nordic platform with significant
standing in the market," says Braathen.
Investment Banking delivered its strongest third quarter ever, driven by a high
level of activity and larger mandates in the areas of mergers and acquisitions,
loans and bonds. Income from investment banking activities reached NOK 1.1
billion, an increase of 44 per cent compared with the third quarter of last
year. So far this year, income from investment banking activities is NOK 3.1
billion, up 30 per cent compared with the same period last year.
Better customer experiences and increased use of AI
Developments in the personal customer market were positive throughout the
quarter, with higher customer satisfaction and growth in both loans and deposits
compared with the third quarter of last year. Lending volumes increased by 1.3
per cent, to NOK 989 billion, while deposits were up 3.8 per cent, to NOK 653
billion.
"We are growing in a highly competitive market, while at the same time customer
satisfaction is rising. It is particularly motivating to see how we can use AI
in concrete terms to improve the customer experience and give our advisers more
time with customers," says Braathen.
All calls to the customer service centre now go through a new digital voice
portal, with 92 per cent of calls reaching an adviser with the right expertise
on the first attempt. The customer advisers also use AI-assisted logging, so
they can spend more of their time on the actual conversation with the
customer.
