Oslo, 15 August 2022
Elkem's plants at Salten, Rana, Thamshavn and Fiskaa have been included in the
process industry strike in Norway starting on 15 August. Elkem is now working to
evaluate the operational impacts for each plant. Any impacts will also be
influenced by the duration of the strike.
The industry strike is a result of the parties not being able to come to an
agreement in the collective national negotiations between the Federation of
Norwegian Industries and the trade union Industri Energi, facilitated by the
State Conciliator of Norway. For any questions related to the negotiations,
please refer to the Federation of Norwegian Industries.
In total, 1422 members of Industri Energi across ten companies will go on
strike. This includes 169 workers at Elkem ASA Salten, 89 at Elkem ASA Rana, 131
at Elkem ASA Thamshavn and 46 at Elkem Carbon AS. Elkem's plants at Bremanger
and Bjølvefossen and the company's other activities in Norway are not included.
