Oslo, Norway - March 20, 2025 - Smartoptics, a leading provider of optical
networking solutions, today announced that Digital Edge, a leading Asian
interconnection and data center operator, has deployed state-of-the-art DWDM
equipment to enable 800G capacity. The compact and easy-to-use Smartoptics
solution helps Digital Edge's Indonesian brand, Indonet, continue its rapid
growth and deliver competitive services to customers with strong cost
efficiency.
Headquartered in Singapore, Digital Edge is a leading developer and operator of
interconnection and hyperscale edge data centers across Asia. With a portfolio
exceeding 500MW across key Asian markets, the company offers a comprehensive
suite of interconnection services, including Cross Connect, Cross LinkT, and
Edge Peering Internet Exchange (EPIX), enabling secure, low-latency connectivity
between facilities.
Indonet, a Digital Edge company, is a full-service ISP and NAP licensed operator
of an Indonesian carrier-grade network. To meet the growing demand for higher
speed links, Digital Edge and Indonet have partnered with Smartoptics to light
up a multi-site ring network. The 800G-ready network interconnects data centers
across the greater Jakarta area.
"Indonet is maintaining its competitive position in the rapidly growing
Indonesian market by deploying Smartoptics high-speed networking equipment with
excellent capital and operational efficiency. Their solutions pack modern
technology and performance into compact, energy-efficient hardware that makes
the most of each fiber pair. We are excited to be partnering with Smartoptics to
deliver world-class services to meet the vast potential of APAC's digitalization
journey," says Raphael Ho, Head of Interconnect Engineering and Operations,
Digital Edge.
The Smartoptics solution is centered around the 800G-ready DCP-R 34-degree
ROADM. The ROADMs are managed efficiently with the SoSmart software suite. The
DCP-404 muxponder is used to aggregate 4x100G, maximizing fiber utilization. The
plan is to rapidly deploy 800G later this year to further increase cost
efficiency and preempt further demand increases.
"This deployment by Indonet in Jakarta is a shining example of how Indonesia and
other fast-growing APAC markets can overcome fiber reliability challenges to
meet their digitalization potential. 800G will further increase fiber
utilization and be necessary as bandwidth needs continue to increase, and that's
why our latest open line systems and ROADMs are 800G-ready. This means that 800G
optics can easily be added when the time comes soon. We are proud to support
Digital Edge's innovations in connectivity in the dynamic, vibrant and growing
Asia-Pacific region," says Magnus Grenfeldt, CEO, Smartoptics.
